How long have you been a member of ICD? How long have you served in a chair capacity of ICD?
I've been a member of ICD for four years and of AEJMC for five years. In 2004-2005, I was representative to the Commission on the Status of Women for the ICD and organized and chaired a panel titled "Progress on the Access of Women and the Portrayal of Women's and Gender issues in the News Media around the World" at the annual conference in San Antonio.

What aspects of international communication interest you the most?
I am most interested in issues of globalization, culture, and gender.

What are your current research projects and pursuits?
I am currently preparing for a research project at the non-profit organization Gender Links in South Africa during the summer. Gender Links is doing very interesting work related to women's access and representation in the news media in the changing South African landscape. I also teach a course in International Communication at Butler University.

What international communication resources do you use that you would like to share with ICD members?
The Global Media Monitoring Project, http://www.whomakesthenews.org/

What five trends do you see occurring in international communication scholarship today?
* The impact of globalization on media flow and contraflow
* Changes brought about by new satellite technologies
* Growing attention to cultural shifts
* Increased attention to issues in the Middle East
* An increase in scholarship from the developing world entering into academic discourse
