How long have you been a member of ICD? How long have you served in a chair capacity of ICD?
I was a member for 2 years in the mid-1990s and have now been a full-time member since 2003. I was the Research chair for the Markham Division in 2006 and am now the Research chair for the Open Competition (for 2007).
What aspects of international communication interest you the most?
Comparisons between media structures (character, ways of operation etc) in different countries around the world.
What are your current research projects and pursuits?
Media management, especially within a newsroom context and with focus on human resources management.
What five trends do you see occurring in international communication scholarship today?
Increased contact between members across the world; Increased willingness and interest to learn from colleagues' experiences
and skills in different parts of the world; Facilitating this contact by means of improved communication technology.
